Contracts worth a total of $21 million have been won by ABB for the construction of power systems to link a new cement plant to Mexico’s national grid.

Under the contracts, ABB will build an air-insulated substation and a transmission line of 400 kV, and a 400 kV and 100 MVA gas-insulated substation.

The contracts were awarded by Mexican company Cementos Cruz Azul and the German firm Polysius, which have overall responsibility for constructing the cement plant in the state of Puebla. The project is due to start immediately and is scheduled to end in one year.
