The $11m contract with Svenska kraftnät requires ABB to provide the high-voltage alternating current 220kV cable system, which features five circuits with single-core cables.
The cables, which have a total length of 21km, will transmit power throughout the bay between the areas of Kevinge and Bergshamra.
The link is part of the Stockholms Ström grid project, which is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2016.
The submarine cable will be linked to existing underground cables, enabling to transmit the energy below ground and under water as well as replace overhead lines in the region.
ABB grid systems business head Patrick Fragman said: "As the Stockholm region grows, the demand for more efficient power transmission and utilization of land increases. This submarine cable system will support the new electrical grid structure being established enhance reliability of power supplies."
The contract is the sixth high-voltage cable system deal that ABB secured from Svenska kraftnät in the last six years.
