Power and automation technology group ABB has won an order worth $27m from Oman Electricity Transmission Company to supply power transformers rated at 125 megavolts ampere (MVA).

The transformers, which are expected to be delivered in 2011, will be installed at various substations in the Oman power grid.

ABB global transformers business head Markus Heimbach said that these transformers will help facilitate the flow of additional supplies of quality power to meet growing demand in the country, and will also strengthen the reliability of the grid.

ABB’s power transformer portfolio includes transformers rated up to 1,000kV, dry- and liquid-distribution transformers, as well as related services and components.
