Denmark-based A2SEA has secured a contract from RWE Innogy to install 160 Siemens 3.6MW turbines at its Gwynt y Môr offshore wind farm located off the coast of North Wales.

The 576MW wind farm is expected to be completely operational by 2014 and will generate electricity to suffice 400,000 homes.

A2SEA, as per the contract, will provide their jack-up’s Sea Jack and Sea Worker for the installation of the turbines, generators and blades.

A2SEA CEO Jens Frederik Hansen said that the company had provided a vessel solution which is robust and tested thoroughly within the offshore wind industry.

"The vessel solution secures optimum discharge and logistics from the load-out port. Through good cooperation with RWE we anticipate an effi-cient, safe and smooth project execution," added Hansen.
