Renewable energy company 2-B Energy has partnered with Scottish Enterprise (SE) to support the commercialization of 2-B’s two-bladed offshore turbine concept through development of offshore test and demonstration facilities in Scotland by 2014.

The 6MW wind plant has a rotor diameter of 140m and will be located on a full lattice structure on the sea bed.

Scotland First Minister Alex Salmond, said: "This strategic agreement with our enterprise agency is another important development for Scotland’s burgeoning offshore renewables industry, which is bringing jobs and investment to communities across the country.

2-B Energy chief operating officer Mikael Jakobsson said: "We will continue to work closely with Scottish Enterprise to implement our development strategy for the commercialisation of our innovative new offshore wind technology.

The Scottish European Green Energy Centre has supported 2-B’s application for European funding, through the EU Framework Programme 7, for development to be located at the Scottish Enterprise-owned Fife Energy Park in Methil.
