MOL Norge has secured consent for exploration drilling well 2/6-6 S, which aims to investigate the Oppdal/Driva prospect, in the production license 860 located in the North Sea.

The consent has been received from the Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA). The well is to be drilled in the southern sector of the northern North Sea, 45 kilometres east of the Valhall and Ekofisk fields and 20 kilometres north of the boundary with Denmark.

The location has the following geographical coordinates:

03° 54’ 49.22 E
Water depth at the site is 70 metres.

Drilling is scheduled to begin in September 2018 and expected to last between 66 and 71 days.

The well will be drilled by Rowan Viking which is a jack-up mobile drilling facility built in Singapore in 2010. Rowan Viking is operated by Rowan Norway Ltd. The facility was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) by the PSA in August 2014.
