The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has selected asset monitoring and predictive analytics solution of Honeywell for enhancing asset and machinery management across its upstream and downstream operations.

Using AI technologies such as machine learning and digital twins, the platform is anticipated to help produce annual savings through reduced unintended maintenance, better reliability, uptime and safety.

The contract secured by Honeywell for a 10-year term is part of the ADNOC’s flagship centralised predictive analytics and diagnostics (CPAD) programme.

CPAD, which supports ADNOC’s 2030 Strategy and oil and gas 4.0 initiatives, targets at changing the company’s operations to maximise value from each barrel of oil.

UAE Minister of State and ADNOC CEO Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber said: “ADNOC’s predictive maintenance project is significant in scale and in its application of AI technology, and marks an important technological milestone for the industry. Honeywell was selected as our valued technology partner to provide these state-of-the-art solutions after a highly competitive and rigorous process.”

ADNOC will utilise Honeywell forge asset monitor and predictive analytics solutions at its Panorama Command Centre in its Abu Dhabi headquarters.

Presently, its Panorama Digital Command Centre collects real-time information across the company’s businesses and deploys smart analytical models, AI and big data to produce operational insights and recommend new pathways.

The adding up of Honeywell’s solutions will allow the central monitoring of up to 2,500 critical rotating equipment across all ADNOC Group companies.

Honeywell chairman and CEO Darius Adamczyk said: “We are proud to partner with ADNOC as they lead the transformation towards Oil & Gas 4.0 and embrace the power of IIoT.

“Honeywell Forge delivers the advanced capabilities business leaders need to harness big data to drive more efficient decision-making and exceed business goals. We look forward to ADNOC realizing these benefits after deploying this leading-edge technology.”

Other digital initiatives taken by ADNOC include its Panorama Digital Command Center; smart data analytics Thamama Subsurface Collaboration Center; and the use of AI-assisted value chain modeling, rock image pattern recognition technologies, and blockchain-based hydrocarbon accounting, among others
