The company will provide smart electricity and smart gas meters that comply with the Dutch Smart Meter SMR5 specifications.

Landis+Gyr EMEA executive vice-president Oliver Iltisberger said: "This is a significant win for Landis+Gyr in Europe.

"After Landis+Gyr supplied the majority of the smart meters in the pre-rollout in the Netherlands, these contracts are a confirmation of the trust and confidence in our company."

Equipped with a communications port, the smart meters will allow consumers to visualize their energy consumption on a display or connect to a home energy management system (HEMS).

The company expects to roll out majority of the meters between 2016 and 2020. The contracts have an option to extend until the end of 2026.

Landis+Gyr provides of integrated energy management products as well as products and services in the electricity metering industry.
