The Nepal Hydropower Development Project (NHDP) project is being managed by Deloitte Consulting.
With this project, Nepal will be able to increase its domestic generating capacity and expand hydropower services.
In addition to exporting electricity to South Asian countries, Nepal will be able to integrate with regional electricity markets.
US Ambassador to Nepal Peter Bodde said: "The work under NHDP is a key element of the US Government’s support of power sector development in Nepal.
"Successful private sector engagement will play a pivotal role in expanding Nepal’s hydropower sector while increasing the amount of energy available for use in Nepal and for regional exports."
The project is supported by the Investment Board of Nepal (IBN), the Nepal Electric Authority (NEA), and the Ministry of Energy (MOE). It will help attract private sector investments in hydropower resources.
