Belarus' Deputy Minister for Power Engineering, Alexander Sivak, says that Belarus will not lease energy blocks at the Bereza hydroelectric power plant to Russia's Unified Energy Systems (UES), according to the Interfax news agency.
Sivak noted that two out of the plant’s six energy blocks have been allocated for the production of electricity for Poland, while three produce electricity for the local Brest region.
UES expressed its possible interest in leasing the Bereza hydro plant’s energy blocks, or the entire plant, in September this year. The Bereza hydroelectric power plant is the third largest power plant in Belarus in terms of generating capacity.
