Renewable energy firm Abengoa Yield owns the solar plant, which is situated 100 miles northeast of Los Angeles.
The power plant generates enough energy for about 90,000 households in California and reduces 350,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year.
Pacific Gas & Electric Company will buy the energy generated from the plant under a 25-year power purchase agreement.
Abengoa Yield also owns Solana solar plant in Arizona, which has completed its first year of commercial operation.
The electricity generated from the Solana plant is being sold to Arizona Public Service (APS) under a 30-year power purchase agreement.
Abengoa Yield owns, manages and acquires renewable energy, conventional power and electric transmission lines and other contracted revenue-generating assets in North America, South America and Europe.
The company owns 11 assets, featuring 710MW of renewable energy generation, 300MW of conventional power generation and 1,018 miles of electric transmission lines.
Abengoa Yield has signed an agreement with Abengoa, which provides it with a right of first offer on any planned sale, transfer or other disposition of any of Abengoa’s contracted renewable energy, conventional power, electric transmission or water assets in operation located particularly in the US, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, Brazil, Colombia and the European Union.
