The plant will be the second phase of the 1GW Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which is expected to be completed in 2030.
Phase two of the project occupies 4.5km² of area and is expected to start operations by April 2017.
The consortium will receive a levelised cost of energy of $5.84 cents/kWh for a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA).
The second phase will reduce 250,000 tons of carbon emissions per year and the project will increase the size of solar energy projects in Dubai to 220MW.
DEWA MD & CEO Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said: "As you know, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park supports the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030 developed by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy to diversify Dubai’s energy mix.
"Solar energy will account for 1% of Dubai’s total energy production by 2020 and 5% by 2030."
The 13MW first phase of the solar park project has already been opened and connected to DEWA’s grid.
The entire solar park is expected to cover 40km² of area and generate 1,000MW of clean energy for the national grid using both PV and solar thermal technology.
