The modules will be delivered by a subsidiary of Hanwha Q Cells between the fourth quarter of 2015 and final quarter of 2016. They will help power NextEra Energy’s solar expansion in the US.
The modules will be shipped from Hanwha Q Cells’ factories in Malaysia and Korea. They will use the company’s Q.ANTUM cell architecture, which it says will supercharge crystalline cells to generate more power.
NextEra Energy Resources president and chief executive officer Armando Pimentel said: "As the world’s largest generator of renewable energy from the wind and sun, we continue to invest in large-scale solar projects."
Hanwha Q Cells chief executive officer Seong-woo Nam said: "This supply deal will enable Hanwha Q Cells to become the market share leader among global manufacturers in two of the three world’s largest solar markets, the U.S. and Japan."
The supply agreement follows Hanwha Q Cells’ recent combination with Hanwha SolarOne to form a new global solar cell manufacturing firm.
