The order extends an existing agreement which includes another 65 shunt reactors, which ABB says are important components of a long-distance high-voltage power transmission system.
ABB plans to deliver the reactors under the new contract between 2015 and 2017.
ISA is developing high-voltage transmission lines for the Colombian, Chilean and Peruvian electric grids for better linkage between the region’s energy networks.
As part of the overall supply, ABB will deliver 55, 500kV shunt reactors that will be installed in Colombia, 28 units in Peru, and 36 in Chile.
ABB said shunt reactors are generally installed in substations at the end of the line to reduce voltage differences, and may also be linked to the power system at important intersections where multiple lines meet, or to the tertiary windings of transformers.
ABB transformers business head Markus Heimbach said: "ABB’s advanced shunt reactor technology will help even out voltage and load variations, boosting power transmission, enhancing grid reliability and supporting economic development.

ISA owns over 41,000km of high-voltage transmission lines in Colombia, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil.
