SunEdison has awarded two contracts to Vestas to supply turbines for the 185MW Bingham wind power plant in Somerset County, Maine and an undisclosed project in Texas.
For the project in Maine, Vestas will deliver and commission 47 V112-3.3 MW turbines. The deal also includes a 10-year service agreement.
Vestas will supply and commission 83 V117-3.3MW turbines for the project in Texas. The deal includes a 10-year service agreement.
The company will install and commission the turbines in 2016, at both the projects.
Under the third contract with an undisclosed customer, Vestas will supply and commission 54 V110-2MW turbines at a project in the US. The deal also includes a 5-year service agreement.
Turbine delivery is expected in third quarter of 2016, while commissioning is anticipated in the fourth quarter.
Vestas sold its first wind turbines in the US in 1980, and established its North America subsidiary in 1989.
As of 31 March 2015, Vestas had installed about 13,200MW in the US. Last year, the company secured 2.2GW of orders for delivery in the country.
