Under a deal with PowerChina ZhongNan, Gamesa will supply 30 of its G114-2MW turbines to the three wind farms.
Of the total turbines, 25 will be delivered to the 50MW Wayu project. One will be installed at the Subplu1 facility and the remaining four at the Subplu2 development.
All three of the wind farms will be situated in the province of Nakhon Ratchasima in central Thailand.
Gamesa expects to deliver the wind turbines this year with commissioning planned in 2016. The company will maintain all the facilities for 10 years.
Spain-based Gamesa said the deal is the first order for the G114-2MW unit in Asia-Pacific.
The company noted that the new turbine can yield more power at reduced cost at low and medium wind speed sites like those in Thailand.
The contract extends the company’s presence in the Asian market which already covers Vietnam, Philippines, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Sri Lanka, China and India
Gamesa has so far installed a total capacity of more than 5500MW in the markets.
