The standard specifies the requirements for a business to introduce an effective Energy Management System (EnMS) and provides a framework to develop and implement an energy management policy, identify significant areas of energy consumption and target energy reductions.
Nicholas Keegan, energy and environment consultant of Powerperfector, said: “Powerperfector is a leader in the energy efficiency market and ethical business practice. We view it as our responsibility to promote best practice in sustainable development and indeed the technology we supply contributes to energy management of the organizations we work with.
“At the same time it is imperative that we keep our own house in order, so we are very proud to have taken a lead on this new standard along with our achievement of 14001 last year. As a matter of principle we continuously look into our energy consumption and impact on the environment.
”Installing Powerperfector technology and high efficiency lighting amongst other initiatives in our own offices is an example of this and I believe this standard will give us the framework to develop our own energy strategy even further in the coming years.”
