The move, which follows the commissioning and operation of Chempolis’ own biorefinery in Oulu, Finland, is intended to strengthen the company’s position as a supplier of biorefining technology for these industries.
Chempolis is currently evaluating possible partners in both areas and expects to select its first partner companies and locations during the second quarter of 2011, with a focus on China and India, and Southeast Asia.
The company’s 3G formico biorefining technologies – formicofib and formicobio are claimed to provide cost-effective mathods for the biomass, paper, biofuel and chemical industries to refine biomass into high-quality products while minimizing environmental impact.
The formicofib technology converts non-wood raw materials into papermaking fibre for paper and board, packaging, and hygiene products, while formicobio processes non-food raw materials into cellulosic ethanol.
