Financing for this production facility, which will increase Cymbet’s manufacturing capacity to meet the growing global demand for its EnerChip devices, is secured through a partnership with the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance (LEDA) and the Texas Economic Development Bank.
The new Cymbet facility will implement a ‘fab in a foundry concept’ where the EnerChip manufacturing capability will be integrated within X-FAB’s Lubbock facility to produce solid-state batteries, while creating 100 new jobs over the next five years.
Cymbet, which has another battery manufacturing plant in Elk River, Minnesota, plans to begin production at new Texas facility in second quarter 2011 with additional space set aside for future growth, ensuring continuous product availability for customers worldwide.
