Scottish Water has selected Black & Veatch, in joint venture with Morrison Construction, to design and implement a GBP31m initial phase of a storm water management project in UK.

The water management project will improve surface water quality for more than 80,000 people in north and east Ayrshire.

The initial element of the project is scheduled for completion in January 2013.

The companies said that the project execution in the Kilmarnock area will be phased in order to ensure delivery of the robust and cost effective design.

The first phase of this work will take place between Gatehead and Irvine.

Black & Veatch global water business president and CEO Dan McCarthy said that the company is engaged in developing sustainable solutions for storm water management challenges in communities worldwide, improving the quality of local water ways and the surrounding environment.

Scottish Water is a company that provides water and sewerage services in Scotland.
