As part of this project, OG&E will utilize FreeWave’s FGR2-PE wireless radio solution for the distribution automation component of the smart grid network.
FreeWave said that its solution will provide secure and reliable connectivity for OG&E’s electricity distribution system enabling less frequent outages, as well as reducing the duration of the outages.
FreeWave chief marketing officer Ashish Sharma said that the company’s radio solutions are customized for smart grid applications with capabilities that can help reduce operating costs and improve its customers’ total cost of ownership.
