The newly formed joint venture, GE Fuji Meter, builds upon GE’s smart meter technology and Fuji Electric’s Japan-based manufacturing and sales network to provide quality, cost-effective meters to the country.
The newly formed joint venture, in which Fuji Electric holds an equity stake of 50.01% and GE holds an equity stake of 49.99%, started the business and led by two representative directors from both Fuji Electric and GE.
GE Energy Services general manager for metering and sensing systems Luke Clemente said that its smart meter technology provides the precision, accuracy and networked communications technology Japan utilities seek as they look to implement smart grid technologies to improve efficiency and reliability.
