Lodi Unified School District, in cooperation with US based Cupertino Electric’s Energy Alternatives Division, has broken ground on the PV system spanning four sites.
The 2MW solar system, which is designed by Cupertino Electric, will comprise of four smaller systems mounted on parking lot canopies throughout the district.
A 947 kilowatt system will be installed at Ronald E. McNair High School, a 769 kilowatt system will be installed at Bear Creek High School, a 197 kilowatt system will be installed at Christa McAuliffe Middle School and a smaller 174 kilowatt system will be installed at the district office.
Lodi Unified School District facilities and planning assistant superintendent Art Hand said that the multi-campus solar system will decrease energy costs and subsequently, increase student-related spending.
Construction of the PV system is expected to be complete this year.
