The purpose of the project is to provide adequate waste water facilities for existing and future growth in the southwest corner of Pottawatomie County. The project will eliminate three pump stations and construct approximately 14,000ft of sewer pipelines.
EPA, which oversees the protection of water quality and public health, is working with community members and the public to meet the growing needs and demands of limited water resources.
EPA said that the recent grant is a part of commitment to develop advanced and sustainable ways for managing and financing infrastructure with public and private partners.
Karl Brooks, administrator of EPA Region 7, said: “It’s always a pleasure to help Kansas communities better protect their water resources. These EPA funds will dramatically increase Pottawatomie County’s capacity to protect water quality and public health.”
