This new film technology developed under the EnerLogic trademark uses new film coatings and techniques to facilitate energy efficiency in every climate zone.
It also contains films with low emissivity (low-e) properties, a measurement indicating a window’s capacity to reduce far-infrared heat transmissions, which contributes to enhancing its insulating properties, with both winter and summer energy savings as end results.
Solutia’s current technology used in new films is claimed to enhance the insulation power of commercial and residential windows by as much as 92%.
The grant to Solutia is a part of DOE initiative to build clean energy future for America, including more than $76m to support energy-efficient building technology projects and the development of training programs for commercial building equipment technicians, building operators, and energy auditors.
Ray Kollar, president and general manager of Performance Films segment at Solutia, said: “The DOE has recognized the value of window films as a retrofit solution to improving energy efficiency.
“Today’s consumers have also learned that, just like changing their lighting, window films are an affordable, easy-to-make choice that can add significant energy savings and real value.”
