The contract is subject to approval by the California Public Utilities Commission and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
Energia Sierra Juarez has been under development by Sempra Generation since 2007.
Construction on the Energia Sierra Juarez 1 project is expected to commence next year and is scheduled for completion in 2013.
Upon completion, the wind facility will be capable of producing enough clean electricity to power about 65,000 average homes, and produce about 1,200MW of wind power when its fully operational.
Last year, Sempra Generation signed a preliminary agreement with BP Wind Energy for the sale of a 50% partnership interest in Energia Sierra Juarez.
SDG&E also signed separate renewable energy agreements for a combined total of 80MW of solar energy in San Diego County.
SDG&E and Sempra Generation are subsidiaries of Sempra Energy.
