This represents a major milestone not only for the company but for the Chilean market in general since it is the first PMGD plant to connect to the distribution grid in Chile subject to the stabilized pricing system.
Furthermore, the construction of a second facility (Planta FV Alturas de Ovalle) has just started construction in the same Region as the previous one, near the city of Ovalle. The PV plant with a capacity of 3,0MWn and 3,3MWp will also be connected to the Central Interconnected System (SIC).
It is expected that these two projects will generate over 14,000 MWh of energy, covering the electricity needs of almost 1,900 Chilean households annually and reducing emissions of greenhouse gases by a total of more than 9,000 tons of CO2 equivalent per year.
Grenergy closed on December 22, 2015 the project financing arrangement of these two plants with the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC), focusing heavily its strategy on the Chilean market and PMGD connected to the stabilized price.
