The San Giorgio Jonico solar power plant has been connected to the Enel electric power grid at a medium voltage of 20kV thus adding to Enel’s capacity to provide more than 40,000MW of generating power to serve over 32 million customers in Italy.
The company has installed Canadian Solar 230W crystalline silicon modules and Power One 330kW Aurora Inverters in the plant for the production of power.
This project also features racking system that are attached to the ground by 1m long steel screws, ensuring minimal disruption to the land and surrounding environment.
Dean Marks, CEO of Premier Power, said: “San Giorgio Jonico is the third in a series of 1MW Italian solar power plant projects, following the Laterza 1 and Monteparano plants, which we connected to the Italian power grid before the end of the first half of 2010.”
