The scope of the agreement covers the development of both sputtered coatings with Intermolecular’s Tempus P-30 combinatorial physical vapor deposition platform, and liquid coatings with Intermolecular’s Tempus F-10 and F-20 wet workflows.

According to the US Department of Energy, residential and commercial glass facades, which influence the energy used for heating and cooling, account for 40 to 60% of all energy consumed in US buildings.

Glass coatings, which are therefore used to reduce energy consumption in buildings, represent a multi-billion dollar global market with scope for further growth.

The collaborative agreement is a part of the companies’ strategy to capture this rapidly growing market. As apart of the agreement, technical teams from both the companies will work in close cooperation on multiple product development projects simultaneously.
