Of the three arrays, 919kW-DC will be used by North Caroline High School, 796 kW-DC by Colonel Richardson Middle and High Schools, and 315 kW-by Greensboro Elementary.
Developed and financed by Kenyon Energy, the arrays will be owned and operated by the Washington Gas and Energy Systems. REC Solar is the design build turnkey EPC contractor.
The systems with 8,200 ground-mounted panels are expected to meet the energy needs of the schools for 25 years.
REC Solar Commercial Business Development director Maxwell Dworkin said that the new projects would provide clean energy for the community and drive cost savings.
