Installed renewable electricity capacity grew 40% for the period while 10% of total energy produced in the country comes from renewable sources.
Offshore wind capacity increased to 2.5GW, a 60% increase, while solar generation capacity was up five-fold.
Commenting on the developments UK Energy & Climate Change Secretary remarked that renewable energy was powering both the UK grid and its economy.
"It’s a fantastic achievement that more than ten percent of our power now comes from renewables, given the point from which we started.
"Right now, getting new infrastructure investment into the economy is crucial to driving growth and supporting jobs across the country.
"I am determined that we get ahead in the global race on renewables and build on the big-money investments we’ve seen this year," said Davey.
According to the report the country is on-course to meet the European target of generating 15% of all energy from renewable sources by 2020.
