The system has been designed to interface with the existing building infrastructure to optimize the building’s energy use and achieve reductions in HVAC energy usage.
The system, which can be deployed in any new or existing building with a building management system (BMS), uses existing building information, external data and proprietary algorithms to deliver verified savings typically ranging from 10 to 20% of the total building energy.
The energy optimization system analyzes the building’s thermal characteristics and capacity of its energy systems using BMS data and integrates it with external data, such as weather forecasts and energy prices, to manage building’s energy.
BuildingIQ optimizes the application based on a zone-by-zone model to provide occupant satisfaction. It also enables tenants to provide feedback through its desktop application ComfortIQ. The system further cuts the need for upfront capital expenditures as it provides pay-as-you-go subscription.
BuildingIQ CEO Michael Zimmerman said that the system represents the next generation of energy management in buildings, and its business model and standards-based technology means it can be widely deployed.
