According to the country’s National Disaster Management Authority, 26 miners have been rescued following the incident on 12 March in the Orakzai tribal district.
Over 100 Pakistan Army and FC troops have been rushed to the site to undertake rescue operations using heavy machinery and offer medical support, according to Associated Press of Pakistan.
The mine collapse follows an explosion that was caused due to accumulation of gas, officials said.
Press Trust of India cited rescue officials as saying that the mine collapse has trapped 65 laborers.
The depth of the mine, lack of adequate oxygen and heavy rainfall are hampering rescue efforts, officials said.
