National Thermal Power (NTPC), an India-based electric utilities company, has commissioned two solar power plants at Port Blair in Andaman & Nicobar islands and Dadri in Uttar Pradesh.

The two solar plants each have an installed capacity of about 5MW. Currently, the company’s generation portfolio has 41,000MW.

The solar power plant at Port Blair, which is spread over an area of about 10 hectares, deploys around 21,312 units of 235Wp mono crystalline cells.

Dadri solar power plant, situated in an area of 27 acres, is valued at INR485.9m ($8.89m). It is expected to generate 7.26 million units of power annually.

The electricity generated by the solar plant in Dadri will be supplied to a public sector power purchasing company GRIDCO under a Power Purchase Agreement(PPA).
