Under the first settlement, Aerojet-General Corp has agreed to pay cleanup costs at the contaminated groundwater site, to the EPA and the California Department of Toxic Substances Control.
Under the second decree, Mammoet Western, Time Realty Investments and Tonks Properties, have agreed to pay cleanup costs to the EPA.
EPA Pacific Southwest Region regional administrator Jared Blumenfeld said EPA has now recovered over $13m to pay for the cleanup of contaminated groundwater and provide drinking water for thousands of families living in surrounding communities.
EPA said the consent decrees were entered in federal District Court on 19 August 2011 and resolve liabilities for contamination from industrial solvents including PCE and TCE, as well as other chemicals, including perchlorate in the groundwater.
