As per the agreed terms, Vestas will supply 57 units of V100 turbines, of which 22 are V100-1.8MW and the remaining 35 are V100-2.0MW.

The deal includes supply, installation and commissioning of the wind turbines, civil and electrical works, a VestasOnline Business SCADA solution along with a 10-year AOM 4000 service agreement.

The delivery of the wind turbines will commence in the third quarter of 2013, while the operations at wind power plant will be commenced by the third quarter of 2014.

Empresas Públicas de Medellín CEO Juan Esteban Calle Restrepo said that the company had chosen Vestas for its second wind power plant as Vestas has 30 years of expertise in the wind power industry.

Commenting on the deal, Vestas South America VP Miguel Picardo Troyano said, "This project represents a step forward in Vestas’ expansion in South America, and specifically in Chile where we have installed more than 50 per cent of its more than 200 MW of wind capacity."

The Los Cururos wind power plant is expected to generate about 290,000 MWh annually, reducing 119,000 tons of CO2 emissions. It will provide electricity enough to power homes of more than 550,500 people in Chile.

Vestas’ total year-to-date orders received is accounted to be 814MW.
