Bluefield Solar Income Fund has outlined plans to raise £150m to purchase solar photovoltaic infrastructure in the UK by selling shares in the second flotation of a green energy fund in 2013.
This move follows Greencoat UK Wind’s raising of £260m in an initial public offering in order to purchase interests in wind farms.
Commenting on the initiative, Bluefield managing partner James Armstrong said large-scale solar energy is expected to become a key investment theme in the country.
According to Bluefield, the fall in the costs of solar panels, and operating and installation costs is a key reason for the increasing investments in the solar power sector.
Numis Securities will play an advisory role for Bluefield Solar in the transaction.
