Under the contract, Suzlon will supply 17 units of S82-1.5MW wind turbines, for the project located in the Indian state of Karnataka.
The proposed contract represents GAIL’s third wind energy project order, where the previous two projects are located in the state of Gujarat.
The first 4.5MW project, comprising Suzlon’s S-82 1.5MW wind turbines, was commissioned in March 2010, and the second 14.7MW project is currently under execution.
The wind turbines at the third project are scheduled to be commissioned in next year.
The power generated by the third wind project will be sold to a local power distribution firm under a long-term power purchase agreement at the fixed preferential feed-in tariff.
