
The inverter converts direct current (DC) generated in solar panels into alternating current (AC) for use by electrical grids, with about 40% increase in power density.
It also enables operators to use 30% fewer inverters than earlier.
The high power 1500 VDC central inverter PVS980 has the capacity to process more incoming direct current power from photovoltaic (PV) panels through one inverter.
It helps in decreasing the total number of inverters required onsite, which helps lower overall costs across the lifetime of a solar plant.
The central inverter, which uses ABB’s self-contained cooling system, does not need refilling of liquids, and has no pumps or valves that require to be serviced.
The optional remote condition monitoring will allow plant operators to gain operational data and plan maintenance accurately.
