Though the acquisition of Glacier that recycles construction materials and processes recovered wood for the manufacturing of recycled wood products and for use as biomass fuel, Waste Management will provide services to support the continued growth of green building.
The integration of Glacier’s wood processing facility in Auburn and its rental containers for construction sites will allow Waste Management to increase its construction recycling in the Puget Sound region.
The transaction, which is expected to be completed on November 30 depending on the assignment of the necessary permits and contracts, shows the commitment of Waste Management to grow its recycling business and community partnerships in the Puget Sound.
Waste Management vice president of Pacific Northwest Dean Kattler said that the acquisition is good news for everyone who wants to see less waste going to landfills.
"It is part of Waste Management’s increasing focus on reducing waste, recovering materials from the waste stream and putting waste to its highest and best use," Kattler said.
