Under this project, the utility installed a new filter to enhance water quality and made modifications at the facility to result in an increase of capacity and enhanced security measures based on national security industry standards.
In addition the investment included the installation of new equipment at the plant to increase energy efficiency at the location and reduce the company’s energy foot print.
Illinois American Water’s investment in the water treatment plant complements the continuous investments and improvements being made, estimated at $335bn over the next 20 years, by the US water utilities to meet the demand for high quality drinking water for customers.
Illinois American Water operations superintendent of Streator District David Clifton said that these improvements will help ensure future demands are met and support economic growth within the community, while also enhancing service to its customers.
