The nationwide Plasterboard Recycling Service is expected to make the disposal of the non-inert waste easier for handlers and contribute to the reduction of plasterboard waste that costs the construction sector almost GBP50m each year.
The new collection service from Hippowaste, which introduced the Hioopbag for the segregation of a project’s usual construction waste from uncontaminated plasterboard, will collect waste plasterboard from site from as little as GBP25 a bag, with no tonnage surcharge.
Hippowaste, which has been providing plasterboard disposal service to its customers since April 2009, has launched this service following the introduction of Defra’s Plasterboard Sustainability Action Plan to help construction companies manage their plasterboard waste.
Hippowaste managing director Gareth Jones said that Hippowaste has been providing one off pick up of plasterboard waste for a number of years but it’s great to take our offering a step further.
