The installation of the Blink EV charging stations, including both Level 2 and DC Fast Charge commercial electric vehicle charging stations will begin in April 2011 at select Cracker Barrel store locations in Tennessee.
Ecotality has chosen 12 suitable locations for Blink EV charging stations using its Micro-Climate process that chooses locations based upon population density and transportation corridors in each project region and will use the same procedure to determine the remaining 12 sites.
The Blink DC Fast Charger, which provides a full charge in less than 30 minutes, and the Blink Level 2 charging stations incorporate interactive touch screens and web-based information delivery via the Blink Network allowing users to access charge station locations, GPS navigation and charge status.
Ecotality’s $230m EV Project will oversee the installation of 15,000 commercial and residential charging stations in 16 cities and major metropolitan areas in six states and will provide an EV infrastructure to support the deployment of 8,300 EVs.
Ecotality president of North America Don Karner said that the collaboration with Cracker Barrel is an important step towards building the rich EV infrastructure needed to promote the consumer adoption of EVs.
