Joining the Lead customer program with a twelve unit order will enable FleetWise EV300 to receive one of the exclusive Transit Connect Electric vehicles in late 2010 and facilitate the purchase of the remaining eleven in 2011.
The FleetWise EV300 initiative aims to put at least 300 EVs on the road in the Greater Toronto Area by 2012, allowing the participating public and private fleets, local electricity distribution companies and municipal partners to prepare for full-scale electric mobility.
The initiative will provide customers with EV servicing and technical support, help them establish charging infrastructure, understand vehicle-grid integration, monitor performance, and advance EV-friendly policies.
Ford Transit Connect featuring Azure’s Force Drive electric powertrain and a lithium-ion battery from Johnson Controls-Saft rechargeable through either a 240V or standard 120V outlet can achieve a range of up to 80 miles on a single charge and has a top speed of 75mph.
