During phase one of the project, EVC and Vconverter engineered an exhaust system based on EVC’s patented Reverse Flow Catalytic Muffler technology and sent it to Michigan Tech University for initial testing, which showed favorable emission reductions over the Original Engine Manufactured.
For Phase Two, EVC and Vconverter will be experimenting with different shell compositions and catalytic structures in an effort to further optimize the unit that is claimed to provide greater Hydrocarbon and Carbon Monoxide emission reductions in comparison with other catalytic systems.
EVC president and CEO Albert Hickman said that starting in 2012, snowmobile manufacturers will be faced with more stringent emission regulations for both Hydrocarbon and Carbon Monoxide.
