The 600kVA and 130kVA UPS systems, which has been installed and will be commissioned later this month, will provide complete power protection to the center’s surveillance and communications equipment.
The UPS systems will help the center seamlessly coordinate with law enforcement agencies to manage and respond to emergencies and to provide direct access to incident commanders; operations; intelligence and investigations section chiefs and critical external agency assets.
Active Power president and CEO Jim Clishem said that Active Power’s flywheel UPS technology, which utilizes kinetic energy to store electricity, is a more reliable system as compared to a conventional battery UPS system.
"The physics of our UPS technology makes it extremely predictable in a mission critical environment, delivering consistent backup power performance. In fact, our systems have proven to be seven times less likely to fail as compared to conventional UPS technology," Clishem said.
