The agreement requires Dow Kokam to supply each truck with a complete battery system containing five strings of seven battery packs (equivalent to 250kWh), power management capability and the complete battery management system.
Dow Kokam’s large-format, liquid cooled flat-cell battery system, which will be assembled in France at the production facility of Le Bouchet, will provide 10 year usable life, 140kWh of energy density and optimum thermal management to extend the system’s lifetime.
The refuse trucks designed by PVI will have a maximum speed of 70km per hour at full payload with 100% starting torque, allowing drivers to collect a payload of 16 tons in two rounds of service, while the integrated gearbox kinematics will enable the truck to climb steep inclines with a full payload.
The modular plug-in battery pack of the 26-ton truck has been designed to be interchangeable or accommodate a partial recharge between two daily service rounds, thus doubling performance capabilities while eliminating 130 tons of CO2 per truck per year.
