The demonstration is a part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s three-year research program, which aims to improve the design of EV charging stations for residential use.
The new charger, which is equipped with ZigBee and Wi-Fi communication protocols, will be able to achieve real-time energy management.
It will charge EVs and HEV’s, using Demand Response Load Control technology, during less electricity demand and cheaper based on the electricity load and pricing information.
Delta Products president M.S. Huang said that smart EVSE technology will better utilize existing power distribution capacity, reducing electric utilities price to their customers, which will help accelerate the adoption of plug in EV’s.
Meanwhile, the company will also showcase its site management system technology. The technology will monitor charging information such as voltage, amperes and charging duration in real time
