As part of the programme, Black & Veatch will develop hydro turbines at several raw water and treated potable water locations.
The company will also undertake the installation of hydro turbines at multiple sites of Scottish Water.
Black & Veatch capital deliver director Steve Canney said the company will help clients to generate energy from water, and has a 40-year history of planning and executing renewable energy projects.
"Through maximised use of existing assets we will further enhance the sustainable benefits of these schemes for Scottish Water," Canney added.
Scottish Water holds about 70,000 acres in Scotland, which is expected to offer potential value for onshore wind and hydro schemes.
