Under the terms of the contract, Conergy will plan, engineer, supply and build the PV plants with a capacity of 13MW and 9MW respectively in San Carlos city, Negros Occidental.
The plants, which will feature 88,300 Conergy modules of the ‘P-Series, will produce 35,000MWh annually. They will fulfill the needs of 13,000 households and curb the emission of 18,800 tonnes per year.
Conergy chief sales officer Marc Lohoff said that with this order, the company will build the first and especially the largest power plant on the entire archipelago.
"Together with our strategic investor Kawa, we have the necessary funding to efficiently implement our very promising project pipeline," Lohoff added.
"The entry in the Philippine market was an important first step and we are currently working on very interesting large-scale projects in other solar growth markets, in the region as well as in North America."
The 350,000m² project is expected to be completed in the first half of 2014.
Conergy president Alexander Lenz said that according to the Philippine Solar Power Alliance, the market capacity is expected to double to a total of 5MW by the end of 2013.
"Our solar power plant will be four times this expected total market size, once completed in 2014," Lenz added.
